Men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Imo State Police Command, have arrested a soldier, Boniface Nwachukwu, for alleged robbery.
As a result of his alleged involvement in robbery, our correspondent learnt that Nwachukwu had been dismissed from the Nigerian Army and handed over to the police for prosecution.
It was gathered that Nwachukwu, 48, was arrested on Christmas Day in an operation coordinated by the SARS Commander, CSP Victor Godfrey, in Onitsha, the commercial hub of Anambra State.
A source stated, “The suspect was arrested for armed robbery and handed over to the army authority and he was immediately dismissed from service.
“On December 25, 2019, at Onitsha in Anambra State, SARS operatives arrested one Boniface Njom Nwachukwu, 48. He was arrested in connection with a robbery incident on May 25, 2019, where our operatives arrested four soldiers in connection with armed robbery.

“The operational car belonged to the dismissed soldier and it has been recovered. Both suspects have confessed to the crime. Investigation is currently ongoing.”

3 Psalms to Read When You Can’t Sleep
By Christina Patterson
By Christina Patterson
Some nights I'm left looking at my ceiling or my iPhone wondering why I can't seem to go to sleep. I have, however, found ways to help myself relax, making it easier to fall asleep. One of which is to read the Bible, specifically the Psalms. The beautiful poetry of the Psalms mixed with the power of God's Word almost always puts my nerves to rest so I can get some shuteye.
If you’re like me and sometimes need help getting to sleep, I want to share with you my favorite psalms to read to help me surrender to rest:
1. Psalm 116
Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you. - Psalm 116:7 NIV
Psalm 116:7 is a Psalm I memorized almost 10 years ago. It is my first go-to scripture to say over and over to myself on a sleepless night. I say it slow to really think about the words. I'm reminded that my soul can rest, because the Lord is good and I have so much evidence of His goodness in my life. I then start to think about all the good the Lord is going and has done for me. This scripture reminds me that God is with me and that gives me a peace that relaxes my mind, body and soul.
2. Psalm 4:8
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. - Psalm 4:8 NIV
After a super busy day you would think the only thing my body would want to do is quickly fall asleep. Nope! I've realized a busy day usually leads to more difficulties falling asleep. My mind races with everything that happened that day and what might happen tomorrow.
What will happen tomorrow?
What will happen next year?
What if something bad happens to me? My husband? My children?
There is nothing worse than trying to fall asleep on anxious thoughts. It's during these times I love to pull out Psalm 4. It always reminds me God is in control, He is my protection, and I can trust Him. Now that's some truth I can sleep on.
3. Psalm 91
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. - Psalm 91:1,5,11
During the day, I'm not thinking about scary thoughts. But as soon as I hit the pillow they all want to attack. And fear is the enemy of sleep. Which is why I absolutely adore Psalm 91. I've only listed a few verse from the Psalm above but, if you have time, or find yourself losing sleep due to fear, I highly suggest you read this Psalm in its entirety. It reminds me God will not only protect me, but He will defend me as well. Psalm 91 reveals that my fearful thoughts don't even come close to the power my God has to overcome them.
I have yet to face a battle that the Lord has not addressed in His Word. This includes my struggle to fall asleep some nights. It is the Word of God that helps me to let go of the worries of this world and grasp how trustworthy our God is. And leaning on His truths, even on sleepless nights, feels like God Himself is rocking my to sleep. So the next time you have trouble falling asleep go ahead and give these Psalms a try. It is my prayer that the truth of God's word produces a peace in your soul that leads to many nights of good sweet sleep.

How to blow without any record label in music industry in 2020
So I came across this post so I decided to share it, a very wonderful tips to follow if you wanna make it in life I the music industry.
Everywhere I go these days, I get assaulted by upcoming artistes with all that “be my manager”, “hear my music”, “introduce me to a record label”, “play my song to this industry person” etc. 2019 is about to end, please stop that pity behaviour, you are a gift to the world, please act that way. Music business has come a long way and investors or whoever that wants to be a part of your journey will first look at the profits before anything. That Nicki Minaj line that goes “People would support you when it is beneficial” is such a realistic line that I am considering putting it in my bio. A “big man” will love your music to death but won’t invest a penny if he doesn’t see the potential of getting his profits, so quit that sorry attitude and do one thing, the most important tip of this whole article – BUILD CLOUT. Investors might not even believe in your talent but if you have a buzzing fanbase, you are 50% ready to be the next big thing.
Here are some tips I compiled after careful thoughts on how to blow in this music industry of ours.
Tip 1Use the Internet and all its tools to your advantage. Besides having your own domain name and website where you promote releases and shows, you’ll probably want a presence on the main social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. But don’t over-commit your time. If you spend all day working on social media, what happens to your music? It’s better to skip some social media rather than do a poor or infrequent job of staying in touch with your fanbase. And of course, you’ll want to make access to your music easy through YouTube, SoundCloud, iTunes Store, CD Baby and the like. Last, but definitely not least, build and use an email list to stay connected with your fans.
Tip 2I don’t know what I want to listen to but when I do, I love it also record labels too, they don't know what they are looking for, but with any luck, they will recognize it when they hear it. Work on developing your own signature sound rather than trying to shape something to please A&R people or future fans. Trying to be like Wizkid, Olamide and maybe Rema will rather give more hype to your predecessors than you. Strive to find your own true identity through your music. And don’t feel like that once you’ve established a musical identity that it need be set in stone. Great artists such as Wizkid and Tu baba have continually reinvented their personas and music throughout their careers. If you think I am lying look at their first albums and the songs they make now.
Tip 3Stop making the same foolish mistakes over and over. Insanity has been described as repeating the same habit continually while expecting a different result. All of us at times get trapped in creative dead-ends, but the way out is not through repeating the same moves that got us there in the first place. Challenge yourself to find new inspirations, and develop at least one new creative technique a month.
Tip 4Realize that no one is waiting for your music. If people are going to become fans of your music, you must approach the promoting of your live shows and the promotion of your releases with the same planning and professionalism as the artists whom you admire have promoted their music. Marketing music has changed radically in the age of the Internet and social media. That technology has the potential to take your music to the world at little or no cost. But knowing that it is up to you to let the world know about your music, is an important first step to take as a responsible independent musician.
Tip 5Avoid telling people in the music business that your music is "good". It is a much overused and weak word. A&R reps, music directors at radio stations, the music press, and buyers at distributors and stores presume you think your music is "good," because you put it out to begin with! When they listen to it, they will decide if it is the kind of "good" music that they feel can get behind and be proud of supporting from their position of power in the music industry. And let's face it, it is the public who will ultimately decide if your music is “good” by buying it or not. That’s not say, you shouldn’t talk up your music. But use your words; shape an elevator pitch that accurately reflects what you and your music are about.
Tip 6Create great graphics, take good pictures, put out pleasing contents. You want to build the same kind of “brand awareness” for your music by creating a memorable logo and graphics. Make sure your content is legible/identifiable in a wide range of sizes and that you use it everywhere your name appears: posters, flyers, press releases, letters, business cards, stationery, websites, and whatever project covers.
Tip 7Listen to other kinds of music beyond your own particular genre. There is much to be learned from other styles. All music offers a vast reservoir of new melodies and rhythms to experiment with, and to incorporate into your unique sound. If the future of music promises anything, it is the ongoing mix of old and new styles coming together in profoundly new ways. Please unlearn, learn and harness.
Tip 8Do shows outside of the usual clubs that cater to your genre of music. Branch out a bit, consider gigs at live band shows, churches and somewhere challenging. So many artists think that the only valid venues to play are the clubs. Look around, start noticing where you see performers playing music, and ask yourself if that venue isn't a valid one for you. Give your fans more than one place to see you perform while finding new followers.
Tip 9Stay humble, thank people. You might be surprised how often music reviewers, DJs at radio stations, and club bookers don’t get thanked by artists. So, make their day by sending a card, a small thank-you gift, or simply by giving them a shout out. Some artists tend to feel they are owed something because of their talent. Guess what... they aren't. Being grateful and thankful are essential qualities for success. Cultivate them and watch the doors open.
Tip 10Don't ever stop making music. One sure way to gain some level of success as a musician is simply to not stop being one. There is no one timetable or path to success. Most artists termed "overnight successes" are in reality years in the making. If you find yourself approaching the creative act of making music as a chore, what is the point in that? Some of the most successful musicians out there are people who simply never stopped making their own music, performing it regularly, and finding a comfortable way to go about doing the business of their music. They could not not music. Are you that passionate? Would a part of you die without your being able to make your music? If so, just keep doing it, the rest will follow.
The real reason behind the release of dasuki and sowore
On the occasion of the Nigerian government failure to grant freedom to detain American - Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore, the United States government sent letter to the Nigerian government addressed to the Attorney General of Federation, Abubakar Malami.
The letter was written on 20th December, 2019 after Sowore was granted bail by the Federal High Court of Nigeria on 6th of December and was re-arrested the DSS right inside the court.
After the Nigerian government received the letter from the United States of America, president Buhari quickly ordered the release of the activist and Dasuki who was detained since 2015.
Sowore was arrested in August 2019 and was charged of treason as the Muhammadu Buhari's government claimed that he was planning to overthrow his administration after he called for a protest 'Revolution Now'.
He was also changed with cyber stalking and money laundering.
He was on 6 December grant bail but was re-arrested again by DSS who invaded court during sitting, obstructing law of the land.
Later to polytechnic students and ND and HND holders(if you are about to apply for polytechnic this is a must read)
We keep clamoring for the removal of the dichotomy placed on HND and B.SC graduates. will this debate ever end? NO!. Will Nigerian HND ever be made equal to a bachelor’s degree? That is not going to happen either. Let's flashback to the establishment of polytechnic education.
According to an article titled “The Conversion of Federal Polytechnics into Universities: the funding aspects” in African Research Review-Journal: The polytechnic education was not originally intended to belong to the tertiary tier of education. It was initially conceived by the French and perfected by the English and Russians to be education and training aimed at discouraging elitism and geared towards the practical preparation of its recipients to fulfill prescribed norms of the economy, which are lacking in the traditional academic institutions. The aim was to evolve an educational system based on work and training. Although, this was later reformed in China, which led to its being regarded as a university-level institution, specializing in Engineering and Technology and providing in-service training and continuous education.
However, Nigerian Polytechnics are established with the mandate to produce middle-level manpower. The term by implication simply means graduates of Polytechnics no matter how robust their program is will never be considered equal to their University counterparts, who are regarded as the ‘higher level manpower’.
Many a time, It has been argued that the National Diploma (ND) holders from the polytechnics constitute the ‘middle-level manpower’ referred to in the polytechnic Act. If that’s the case, then the laws establishing polytechnics ought to have been amended or polytechnics converted to Universities before they are allowed to run a program higher than the ND. The HND program was introduced without doing any of that. What were they thinking? Besides, the HND program of the British government, from which our own HND was copied, does not require a prerequisite two-year diploma like ours.
It’s an independent two-year program and is considered equivalent to the first two years of a 3year bachelor’s degree program. That is, with the British HND, you’ll only need to spend one more year in the University to get a bachelor’s degree. Clearly, those who designed the Nigerian HND program didn’t know what they were doing. The ND program was sufficient to supply the much needed middle-level manpower.
Furthermore, Nigerian HND holders are agitating reason being that if it takes 5years to get Nigerian HND unlike the 2-year British HND that many compare it to why are they still not equivalent to B.sc holder Counterpart? Why are they treated with an inferiority complex in the labor market?
Courses worth more than 120 Credit-Hours, the minimum required internationally to bag a bachelor’s degree, must have been passed before earning HND. Affirmative in this regard by revealing that Nigerian HND is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in their evaluations.
In conclusion, to eradicate this dichotomy, HND programs should be discontinued in Polytechnics. A one-year Top-up degree program should be designed by NUC to allow existing HND holders to obtain bachelor’s degrees.
I close by saying, Polytechnics should be refocused. Remember our fate is in our hands as people we need to work together not as a divided people that we are now. we need to think, plan, act and stop speaking in a staccato voice.

Who is the "lion of Africa"?
The raise and set of the gaint Sun
opera.com

By Uche Ohia
The sun set at dawn on Thursday, February 16, 2017 for the Arondizuogu born traditional music prodigy, Damian Azubuike Nwankwo Okoye also known as “Ichie Mezuo” or “Alusi Makaja” but more widely known to Igbo traditional music fans across Nigeria and the masquerade loving Igbo people of South East Nigeria at home and in Diaspora as “Pericomo”.
As the news that the celebrated minstrel had joined his ancestors broke on the internet and spread around, a palpable gloom and sadness spread with it. Such was the popularity of the man that even those that did not know him but only heard his music were saddened to learn about his demise.
In his life time, Pericomo was the Don, the “father father”, the undisputed champion, the “Cultural Prime Minister” - a hugely popular maestro of traditional music in Igbo land. The pulsating rhythm of his multi-gong philosophical melodies interspersed with the intoxicating sound of the flute acted like a high potency brew that moved young men to frenetic acrobatic displays especially in his native Arondizuogu where Pericomo’s music is more like a national anthem.
Pericomo was an enigma, a living legend around whose name many myths and magical feats were spun. The story of his encounter with tax collection enforcers in the Upper Iweka area of Onitsha which was captured in the video of the song “Pericomo na anyi ajo aru” will be told from generation to generation.
With Pericoma, it was hard to seperate fact from fiction. So much was attributed to this legendary superstar that the mere mention of his name excited different emotions in different people. A Creditor claiming a relationship with Pericoma or threatening to report a debtor to him was often all that was required to secure a quickened redemption of his debt. No one was willing to dare a man reputed to be the "Lion of Africa" on account of his mythical powers real or imagined.
From 1976 when he took the traditional music scene by storm, Pericomo dominated the stage and dictated the pace for forty long years with annual releases of memorable songs until 2015 when his voice began to quiver. Two years down the road, the sonorous voice that rang out in perfect synchrony with his wooden drums for forty years, regaling old and young with magical feats and endless proverbs is no more. Even though many saw his music and persona as tilting towards the fetish, the achievements of Pericomo are legion and the universality of his message of cultural revival is undeniable.
To Pericomo belongs the credit for promoting Ikeji Festival of Arondizuogu and for taking Igbo traditional masquerade music and turning it into the globally popular genre of music that it is today. So great has been this prodigious music-maker’s achievement that even those that do not understand the Igbo language and those that cannot comprehend the timeless Igbo philosophy embedded in his effervescent lyrics still enjoy his music. Pericomo synthesized and symbolized Igbo traditional masquerade music.
BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD
Pericomo Okoye was born in the year 1948 to the family of Mazi Nwankwo Okoye Emesuo (Ejezuo) of Ndiogbuonyeoma Ndebeuche, Arondizuogu, in Okigwe LGA, Imo State. Unable to determine his natural calling in time, this gifted traditional music guru traveled far and wide in search of his destiny. From his home village of Ndiogbuoyeoma Ndebeuche, he travelled to distant places. The story of his sojourn is told in one of his songs titled Ejezuo.
MUSICAL VENTURE
In 1976, the sojourner found his calling. He was recruited and became a key member of a group called ‘Njima’ (Arondizuogu Traditional Masquerade Group), which released a 4-track long playing record titled “EJEZUO” under the label of Janco Records in 1976. Njima was coordinated by Mazi I.E. Kanu of Ikan Power fame and had among it’s leading lights Mazi Ignatius Ohia (Ogidigba), Mazi Egbo Umeibe (Tempest) and Almos Omeokachie who invited the young Pericomo to the group where he became the lead vocalist. The story of how Pericomo’s singing talent turned an unknown young man into an overnight sensation in Njima and how it equally turned him into an object of jealousy among some of his compatriots is a story for another day.
Following a disagreement within the group that same year, Pericomo left Njima and went solo with the name “Pericomo Okoye and his Traditional Music Group, Arondizuogu”. He immediately released a six-track LP titled EKERE-MGBA under the label of Jicco Records. His star began to shine. Since then this traditional music phenomenon has released a string of record-smashing hits which catapulted him into an Igbo traditional music icon and elevated egwu nmonwu into the popular music genre that it has become in Nigeria. To all intents and purposes, Pericomo deserves the grand title of ‘Cultural Prime Minister’ of Igboland. For forty years, the annual release of his musical compositions was awaited with religious dedication by Igbo traditional music enthusiasts.
CULTURAL ACTIVISM
From 1976, Pericomo fought an unrelenting battle (with music as his weapon) to promote Ikeji Festival and to ensure that Igbo tradition and culture were not overwhelmed by rabid Eurocentrism and westernization threatening to subsume the best of Igbo cultural heritage. Through his music, Pericomo provided a bulwark and a formidable fortification for strident promotion of Igbo traditions and for effective cultural advocacy against the rampage of religious fundamentalism and overzealous Pentecostalism. In a sense, he launched the equivalent of a cultural evangelism which has continued to thrive by the day.
THE SONGS
For 40 solid years (1976 – 2016), Pericomo released annually, a salvo of sonorous songs which add up to a monumental barrage of Igbo traditional music. No other musician of the Igbo traditional music genre has exhibited such enormous productivity and consistency. After Ekeremgba Pericomo released the popular Isi na Udo Ga Adi? This was followed by Isi na udo gadi Vol. 2 (1980) which was followed by Ejezuo Volume 2 (1981). As his music continued to break cultural boundaries and garner interest among all Igbo groups, he launched an unrelenting bombardment of the airwaves with Oderigwugwu by Title (1986), Irigorogwo (1987), Uto Nti (1988), Anulika - Oforndu Special (1989), Ogba Aghara (1990), Aja Egbu Edi (1991), and Ogbalu Uwa Ghali (1992), High Tension (1998)’ etc. Between 2000 and 2015, he released another volley of 16 albums including Onye Napuru Ibe Ya (2010), Igbudu Ogwe (2014) and Ihe Ebuka (2015). A comprehensive compilation of Pericomo’s albums and songs would reveal that he was a creative bundle of ingenuity.
When Pericomo sings and calls upon one of his adroit flutists like Nwankwo Ija or Akwarawhonge to add the searing sound of the flute to the sonorous combination of traditional musical accoutrements, no one stays still. The rhythm is intoxicating - to put it mildly. Therein lies the magic of Pericomo. Aside from music, Pericomo made star appearances in several videos centered around his music or around his pet interest of Igbo tradition and mythology.
RECOGNITION
Pericomo received countless accolades. He also received a few awards - the ones that he reluctantly accepted. At the Arondizuogu Day celebration held on December 27, 2008 when I was the President-General, Arondizuogu community under the auspices of the Arondizuogu Patriotic Union (APU) decorated Pericomo as an ICON OF CULTURE - the first of it’s kind in the community. The award plaque was presented to the music idol by the then Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu who was a Special Guest at the occasion. It was a well-deserved honour to a man who had carved a niche for himself, a man who had taken Arondizuogu heritage – in a positive and negative sense - to an unprecedented height in the public domain through his music. In a negative sense because his constant references to herbalists and oracles in Igbo land tended to brand Arondizuogu as a community at home with idols and shrines which is not the case in reality.
CONCLUSION
More than any other musician of Igbo extraction, Pericomo helped to keep the fire of Igbo tradition and culture burning. He kept the flag of Igbo Heritage flying by single-minded dedication to his craft, the tenacity of his convictions and the consistency of his music. For 40 years, this indefatigable musical idol and traditionalist not only held back the onslaught of cultural iconoclasts lined up against Igbo language, culture and tradition, he forcefully pushed back the frontiers of ignorance and stigmatization which has been the bane of Igbo culture and heritage.
For four decades, this gifted singer entertained traditional masquerade music lovers in Igboland, across Nigeria and in Diaspora with an endless medley of sonorous songs garnished with a rich repertoire of proverbs, idioms and anecdotes typical of the Arondizuogu people of his ancestral home and characteristic of the Igbo ethnic group of South East Nigeria among whom, as Chinua Achebe wrote, proverbs are the oil with which words are eaten. In those 40 years, this talented artiste has released 40 extraordinary albums which stand as eternal testimony of his prowess but whatever has a beginning must have an end.
For Pericomo, the sun may have set but the robust legacy of Igbo cultural advocacy and philosophy which he left behind will surely outlive him and his voice will continue to be heard even more loudly through his music for generations to come. For Arondizuogu, the foundation of whose cultural hegemony and rising profile as the citadel of culture and tourism Pericomo laid for forty years with his irresistible voice and incomparable music, the sun is just about to rise.

See as sia paid for people at Wal-Mart claimed she won athe lottery
It's true to me that Sia never uncovers her face, one of the star that never reveals her identity to her fans, and now see the out come
The singer-songwriter, Sia, who many of you probably know for her famous hit ‘Chandelier,’ recently impressed her fans with her act of kindness. On November 27, she went out to Walmart and started paying for people’s groceries. The 43-year-old musician likes to keep her identity hidden by wearing eccentric wigs that cover her whole face, that’s why even her fans can’t always immediately recognize her without it. However, last week, a day before Thanksgiving, she was eventually identified and surprised her fans with her kindness
Sia entered the supermarket and started saying that her name is Cici and she’d just won the lottery, before paying for strangers’ items.

However, her cover was blown when a fan realized who she truly is and asked for a photo.

People were left both starstruck and speechless by her actions. “I love that she did this not for recognition of showing kindness, but just actually being a kind person.

She didn’t want people to know who she was or why she was doing it,” one person tweeted.

Back in October, Sia also surprised her fans with her honesty. She revealed her struggles with the neurological disease and ehlers danlos. She used this disclosure as an inspiration to people who are going through the same struggles. “Hey, I’m suffering from chronic pain, a neurological disease [and] ehlers danlos and I just wanted to say to those of you suffering from pain, whether physical or emotional, I love you, keep going. Life is f– hard. Pain is demoralizing, and you’re not alone,” the singer tweeted.
