Meet Roddy Ricch an American rapper making waves to the top

Roddy Ricch’s viral hit “The Box” navigated to the top of both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard top 200 songs and album charts blocking Justin Bieber's new single “Yummy” from being number one. And the ‘Compton rapper - Roddy' (nor Twitter)
isn’t letting Bieber forget it.

Notwithstanding the obvious competition from Justin Bieber’s comeback single “Yummy,” Roddy Ricch has landed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with “The Box.” The Compton rapper gained his first No. 1 single with the track – The Box - which drastically climbed the charts after continued viral success.

According to feedbacks received from Chart Data, Bieber’s “Yummy” landed at No. 2 - Billboard confirmed it. It was so surprising that “The Box” brought in 68.2 million U.S. streams and 11,000 digital song sales within the week of January 9th, meanwhile Bieber’s track “Yummy” brought in 29.3 million streams and 71,000 sales. Songs nominated as third and fourth goes as follows : Post Malone’s “Circles”- No. 3 and Maroon 5’s “Memories” - No. 4.

It was discovered earlier that there were some questionable informations in the instructions Bieber gave his fans on how his single “Yummy” could be meandered to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. This information was given on different platforms of social media including Spotify and Instagram. A part of the instructions on Instagram directed international ‘Beliebers’ to download VPNs which would allow them to cheat Billboard’s American charts.

VPNs connotes “Virtual Private Networks,” the privacy includes the ability to hide IP addresses. This would allow Justin’s international fans in other countries to make it appear as though they were streaming “Yummy” in the United States – it is just like changing location by teleporting. He said that because, The Billboard Hot 100 only charts the popularity of songs based on American listeners.

Here is another section of the instructions by Justin Bieber to his fans on Spotify – it was an image. The image reads “Create a playlist with Yummy on repeat and stream it. Don’t mute it! Play at a low volume. Let it play while you sleep. If you are not from the US you can download a VPN app. Set the VPN to US and then create a Spotify account.” The post was later deleted, but not before several captured screenshots. So far, neither Bieber, nor representatives of himself or Billboard, have issued a response as to this. 

All this tactics was reported to be Bieber's way of outnumbering his contestant – Roddy Ricch , yet, “The Compton rapper” made his way to the top and his fame went viral.
